External Support

This page brings together external sources of support that may be helpful depending on your circumstances. These services are not delivered by Devon LMC, but are widely recognised, reputable, and commonly used by those working in General Practice.

Overview

Sometimes the most appropriate support sits outside of the LMC. Alongside our own support services, we can help signpost you to trusted external organisations that offer specialist advice, professional guidance, or wellbeing support.

This page brings together external sources of support that may be helpful depending on your circumstances. These services are not delivered by Devon LMC, but are widely recognised, reputable, and commonly used by those working in General Practice.

If you are unsure where to start, or whether external support is right for you, you’re always welcome to contact us first and we can help guide you.

When external support may be helpful

External support may be appropriate if you are:

  • seeking specialist or highly specific advice
  • looking for support outside our core services
  • experiencing issues where independent or third-party input is helpful
  • exploring wellbeing, mental health, or professional guidance options
  • wanting to access national or profession-wide support services

Everyone’s situation is different, and there’s no right “right” route; the most important thing is accessing support that feels right for you.

What you’ll find here

On this page, we signpost to a range of external organisations and services that support those working in General Practice, including:

  • professional and pastoral support services
  • wellbeing and mental health services
  • leadership, career, and professional development support
  • specialist advisory and guidance services

Where possible, we aim to provide clear descriptions so you can decide whether a service feels relevant before accessing it.

A note on confidentiality and independence

External support services operate independently of Devon LMC. Each organisation will have its own confidentiality arrangements, eligibility criteria, and access processes.

We encourage you to view the information carefully and choose the option that best meets your needs.

Not sure where to start?

If you are unsure which type of support would be most helpful, or whether an external service is the right next step, you don’t need to decide alone.

You’re welcome to contact us and a member of our team can help you think through your options and signpost appropriately.
