Introduction
Starting out in general practice can feel complex and overwhelming. Our Introduction to General Practice sessions are designed to help you understand how the system works, build confidence in your role, and feel better connected to the wider primary care landscape in Devon.
This session is ideal for GPs, nurses, clinical staff, practice managers, senior administrators, and other team members who are new, or relatively new, to general practice.
What the session covers
The programme provides a clear, practical overview of the key structures and frameworks that underpin general practice, including:
-
NHS reforms and strategic direction
-
GP contracts and core service requirements
-
Primary Care Networks and the DES
-
Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF)
-
Contractual amendments and monitoring
-
Practice finance, budgets, and payment streams
-
CQRS and GPES reporting
You’ll also hear from system partners, including NHS Devon ICB and Devon Training Hub, and gain insight into CQC processes and compliance from our CQC Compliance Manager.
At the start of the session, you’ll have the opportunity to meet members of the Devon LMC team, who will be there to welcome you, introduce our role, and help you understand how we support practices and individuals more broadly across Devon.
