We are looking for an experienced and motivated manager with a professional approach to join our excellent team. The role will require sound leadership, organisational and communication skills.
Full Time hours preferred.
Our Business Manager would oversee the running of our practice supported by our Office Manager and our Finance Manager who have both been with us for many years.
We work in modern purpose built premises. NBMC is set in the South Hams close to the coast and beautiful beaches and with good schools nearby.
We have a list size of approx 10,000 patients with 9 GP Partners, 3 PNs and a supportive team of HCA's and admin staff.
ARRs including Paramedics, a Physio and a Pharmacist have joined our team and we are also a training practice for registrars, F2's and medical students.
Your responsibilities would include Personnel Management/HR , Strategic planning, H&S, attending and chairing meetings, liaising with our local PCN, CQC and GDPR compliance, over -seeing complaints and supporting the Finance Manager.
General Practice/NHS experience preferred [or a management qualification.]

Due to our current Director of Operations taking maternity leave in January 2022, we are looking to recruit a dynamic, highly motivated, hardworking individual to lead our team of loyal and dedicated staff on a minimum 12-month fixed term contract. We are a high achieving 20 Partner PMS practice with Good CQC rating. We are a 6-site practice with a list size of 42,800.
Experience in leading, managing and developing a team in a changing and challenging environment is essential. You will be responsible both for maintaining the strategic direction of the practice and for the overall day to day operation and delivery of primary care GP services.
The ideal candidate will have a sound understanding of the NHS and how it operates at practice and PCN level. They will be an influential team player with extensive experience of driving continuous improvements and high standards of care.
The successful candidate will be comfortable with transformational processes, with the agility and proactiveness to lead us through the changes outlined in the NHS Long Term Plan and GP Contract. Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential; a background in healthcare is desirable.
This post will report directly to the Partners and the Managing Partner Dr Andrew Mercer.
About the role.
The Director of Operations brings expertise in operational healthcare management, excellence in Governance and CQC standards as well as delivering measurable cost-effective results across the organisation.
Areas of focus during the period of maternity cover will include working with the managing partner, board, and other directors to deliver the practice strategic plan, provide support to the group’s governance structures, and be accountable for the delivery of the practice requirements for CQC and NHS standards.
Duties of this role include:
To strategically plan the delivery of patient safe clinical care provision of primary care services, in line with business needs and responsible for day-to-day organisation and management of care provision; both clinical and non-clinical. Providing clear direction and leadership to all staff. The role is responsible for development, motivation, and performance of the whole practice team, ensuring the achievement of CQC Standards.
Working with the Managing Partner to support the initiatives of the Practice, driving a culture of safety, clinical effectives, and continued improvement for the patient experience. The role is responsible for development, motivation, and performance of all Clinical Services staff, ensuring the achievement of regulator (CQC) standards as required
Lead the team to deliver care that helps improve the health of patients
Demonstrate commitment to improving care and the patient experience
The role will be supported by a group of well-established and experienced operational managers, Directors and Partners.
The role is a Temporary Fixed Term Contract for 12 months with a potential to be extended for up to a further 2 months. The role is 25 hours per week equivalent to Band 8a pay.

The Practice currently has 13 Partners, 1 salaried GP and 2 Retainer’s, a large team of experienced nurses and a committed administration team. We have one main surgery and 2 branch surgeries. The Operations Manager (OM) will form part of the new Senior Management Team (SMT) working alongside the Strategic Business Manager (SBM).
The Operations Practice Manager will take full line management responsibilities for numerous areas within the Practice and be expected to manage and resolve these issues dynamically and proactively.
This role will be overseeing and managing all of the operational responsibilities within the Practice to ensure that we maintain our strong operational foundations and values. This will enable the SBM to focus on the Strategic priorities of the practice alongside wider Primary Care Network/North Devon Collaborative Board work, which is crucial in developing and influencing new opportunities, especially with the implementation of Integrated Care Structures (ICS) structures in 2022.
