Devonport Health Centre is located on the outskirts of the City Centre close to the Continental Ferry, Torpoint Ferry and HM Naval Base Devonport.  Located in a previously deprived area there has been a huge regeneration project and we provide care to 7600 patients in a socially mixed waterside area of the city. We relocated to purpose built premises on the Cumberland Campus in September 2015 and have rapidly increased our list size.

We are looking to recruit salaried doctors to the practice due to our rapid expansion following the closure of a number of local practices over the last two years and the retirement of one of our Doctors.

We are a member of the Waterside Health Network and as a group of practices we have worked closely together for many years.

We have a mix of future, on the day and telephone appointments as well as e-consultations. Administration is carried out wherever possible by the Administration Team and we have advanced and comprehensive protocols to release clinicians to concentrate on clinical work. We use SystmOne, have consistently high QOF achievement and have above national achievement on the patient survey.

We were rated “Good” by the CQC in 2016, we received an innovation award for close working with our local pharmacy and take pride in improving the service we offer by constantly reviewing processes and auditing systems.

We work with the Medical School and currently have year five students in the practice and hope to expand our involvement with the medical school in the future by hosting all years. Our team comprises of four GPs, a Clinical Pharmacist, 3 Nurse Prescribers, 2 Health Care Assistants and a strong supportive administration team. Quality of life is important to us- we structure our workload and support each other- finishing by 6pm is the norm, without the need to come in on days off, or log in from home. Our consultation slots are 15 minutes and we run a Duty day system mainly led by our allied health professionals with GP support.
